Apologies for linking to Xitter, xcancel has been shut down. Proton Mail seems to be completely offline everywhere.
For future, they have a real status page: https://status.proton.me/
I think we need to ask them to not (only) use X for support posts. They have every other platform for their marketing.
They can’t use other platforms because those are not Nazi enough to their liking, as we saw with the “retirement” after the response they got after their support for Trump.
[…] their support for Trump.
That was one guy (their CEO) expressing his personal support for one thing Trump did. Proton released a statement claiming that their company as a whole does not support any political stance or affiliation.
Proton haters (and anti-privacy groups) blew it up into a whole ordeal to try and discredit Proton as a service. But it was literally just one dude being an out-of-touch idiot on his own personal account.
I’m not saying Proton is perfect, but it’s one of the better privacy services out there today, so of course governments, politicians, and anti-privacy organizations are looking to tear them down. They don’t want true privacy; they need the illusion of privacy, while maintaining their back doors into everyone’s business.
I don’t know qhat bot farm you get that many upvotes from but you really need to do more research.
That was one guy (their CEO) expressing his personal support for one thing Trump did. Proton released a statement claiming that their company as a whole does not support any political stance or affiliation.
The first part was a statement that was backed by the board (this after the CEO guy doubled down on supporting Trump when questioned).
The second part almost merits no explainer: saying you are “neutral” on politics is the same as saying you favour those why already have the power - the oligarchs and those who maintain the status quo.
maybe some people just don’t give a fuck about what CEOs of the companies they consume products of tweet in their personal accounts? All this drama is a nothingburger to me and a complete waste of time.
Presumably bots and right-wings don’t give a fuck, because they know they have the advantage on that one. And other people who are apathetic to the issue deserve what they get. The problem is that this does not function as social darwinism, so their idiocy drags the rest of us down with them.
And don’t forget about right wing bots!
Of course not, how could I~?
We all pick our battles. I have dozens of things more relevant to be worried about. If you think it’s bad that part of the society doesn’t really care about what a CEO is tweeting, maybe you have a really good life, or maybe you’re going to burn out soon.
Did they not toot this on mastodon or put it on their status outage site?
Sorry, it’s my fault. I’m in the process of leaving Google and just linked my Gmail to Proton today.
Typical Dan behavior lol
Right? Jeez, Dan, could you just not?
Dammit dan.
There are also some working Nitter instances:
Thanks, I didn’t know about Twitter Web Viewer. Found a userscript that auto-redirects X posts to it. Ironically it says in the description that the script was made using Grok 😭
Crazy, my phone is on vpn kill switch at all times and I didn’t notice it today. Probably happened when I wasn’t using my phone
proton mail is finally back for me, the VPN too. that’s about as much as I’m comfy leaving in their hands, gotta diversify your eggs and baskets~
If you want a different email service, may I suggest https://port87.com/
oh now I see why I was having trouble signing up for a new service. never got the confirmation email, until a couple minutes ago
them coming back was extremely quick, faster than i expected after a global outage
oof, best of luck to the support team
edit: a fix is out, most services recovered for most users
They’re back. status.proton.me
I guess these issues may have had something to do with the 4-5 unsolicited password reset code emails I received in my other (non proton) email account
