    Nope, they aren’t as universal as EFI. I think the closest comparable attack vector for “old tech” is a bootsector virus.

      Are you saying that any systems using BIOS boots rather than EFI are not vulnerable to this attack? Sorry, still waking up here but if this is correct then that’s great news for my systems where I’ve always insisted on avoiding EFI.

        Are you talking about systems that have both bios and EFI? I’m not too familiar with that case, so I don’t know what would happen - I wouldn’t rule out that it’s still susceptible.

        But as you can read I the article, this attack vector requires EFI to work.
